2012 Season – Training Camp

Forget the Olympics in London the most important event of the summer happens at 4pm on Monday afternoon August 27th. That’s the 2012 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place on Bank Holiday Monday and be followed by a sumptuous banquet provided by Cheryl. The first game of the season (Cowboys @ Giants) is on Wednesday September 5th. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 3pm on Sunday 14th October before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 18th November before week 11. Put these in your diary. Franchise Players I hope you are all back for another season. If not let me know asap as the time for the selection of our 2012-13 Franchise players has arrived. You must supply the name of your new Franchise Man by July 1st. To help out a few bits of research are on the way. Firstly attached is the final table with each players teams (so you can remember who you had on your squad in the first place) and how much they will cost you for the next two years if you Franchise them. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. George is paying former Dallas Kicker David Buehler $0.5m this year and so has a $9.5m budget to spend on his eight players. This year’s good, bad and ugly big names becoming available include Quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan and Jay Cutler; Running Backs Chris Johnson, Rashard Mendenhall and Frank Gore & Receivers Miles Austin and DeSean Jackson as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with the rookies - the rookie report (attached) details the 30 players from the first 3 rounds of the NFL Draft who may be available to us this season, together with who signed them. Peyton Manning is a Denver Bronco - that’s the off-season headline and in related news Tim Tebow is now a New York Jet. Other key moves have seen Daz’s franchise RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis leave New England for Cincinnati, Miami receiver Brandon Marshall re-united with Jay Cutler in Chicago, Cleveland RB Peyton Hillis join the Chiefs, QB David Garrard sign for Miami and WRs Brandon Lloyd & Anthony Gonzalez join the Patriots. RB Mike Tolbert moves from San Diego to Carolina, Michael Bush and Jason Campbell both go from Oakland to Chicago while WRs Vincent Jackson moves to Tampa from San Diego and Pierre Garcon from Indi to Washington. San Fran will now have Mario Manningham and Randy Moss catching balls. Matt Flynn is likely to be Seattle’s new QB.
